How do I take care of my new tattoo?

  • Leave your bandage on for a minimum of one hour.

  • Wash your hands with antibacterial soap.

  • Take off your bandage. Once then bandage is off you will wash your tattoo with luke warm water and antibacterial soap. Only use your hand, no washcloths or abrasive materials.

  • Rinse the tattoo and repeat the wash an additional time.

  • Rinse your tattoo with cold water. Please make sure you rinse all the soap off.

  • Let your tattoo air dry. Please do not use a paper towel or a towel. This will reduce the risk of cross contamination.

  • Once your tattoo is completely dry, apply a small amount of non-scented lotion, Griffin Salve or aquaphor. You don't have to use a lot. A small amount goes a long way.

  • Do not use: neosporin, vasoline, A&D or any other creams you haven’t cleared with me first.

  • Rub in it really well to avoid the moisturizer sitting on top of the tattoo.

  • Repeat the washing and moisturizing process for the first few days. After that, only the moisturizing is necessary.

  • Even after the tattoo is healed you will always benefit from your tattoo being moisturized.

  • Avoid swimming, bathing (showering is fine), tanning, and sun exposure until your tattoo is fully healed. Sun screen will be your best friend to ensure you tattoo doesn't fade due to sun exposure and sun burns.
